Growing
up I was always active, but never really exercised. Let's face it, who
"likes" to exercise? However, I did love to dance...not ballet or tap,
I am talking at a party, a wedding, in my living room...you know...After
having two children, now ages 5 and 21/2, and trying to
lose those last 25 pounds that seem to stick forever, I started to go to an
exercise class called "Zumba®." What could this be? Everyone in
the class looked like they were having so much fun. C'mon, how could
it be fun?? Could I really get in there and do that? The music was amazing,
everyone was smiling, and I thought, let me just give it a try....
Well, I was hooked. Really hooked! I started going two times
a week and actually looked forward to exercising! Little by
little...week by week, I found myself having more energy, getting thinner,
stronger, and happier! I even found myself singing songs in other languages
that I wasn't even sure I knew the words to...
After about six months, I decided to get certified as a
Zumba® Instructor
and the rest is history! Two years later, I now teach workshops to teachers, travel to other cities to attend Master
Classes and workshops through the Zumba® Instructor Network, write on message boards,
and have friends from all over the country that teach Zumba®. I was featured
on Push Pause on Fios and
Good Day, NY on FOX 5 last summer--who would have thought??
Recently, I was selected to be a Zumba Jammer® and in August 2010, attended the Zumba®
Convention in Orlando, FL.
I have been teaching
classes for two years
now, three times a week
and enjoying every minute of it. I know it's hard to find time to
exercise, this is why I, myself, can only teach three times a week. I am a middle school teacher on Long
Island, a mother, and a wife--and I recently had my third child in November;
a baby boy! Let's face it, it's hard to make time
for ourselves. But I promise you, you will blink and the class will be
over. You will be hooked, like I was, and want to come back again and again.
I have come to know the nicest group of people in my classes. They
are always nervous in the beginning and I tell them that no one is watching
them. We are all supportive of each other. We laugh, we dance,
we let off steam from the day, and we even socialize from time to time. Our class is made up of moms, teachers, nurses, retirees, dads (YES...men
too!!), college students, everyone from every walk of life...
So make 2010 your time to shine...join me and I can help you make this
your best year yet~
